PSA - The Early Years
The following photos & descriptions were contributed by Jalil Kamali, one of PSA's founding members, in June 2000.
The picture above is the one taken right after PSA's first general meeting (May 21, 1993).People in the picture from left to right:
- Hadi Taheri: PSA's first treasurer. He held this position since the begining through Sept. 94. He got his PhD in Engineering Economics in 1995 and he is now working in a financial planning company in San Francisco.
- Jalil Kamali
- Mehrdad Heshami: Mehrdad designed the PSA's logo. He got his PhD in EE in 1996 and is now working in a startup company here in the bay area.
- Babak Khalaj: He got his PhD in EE in 1995 and is now working as an International consultant on Telecom Projects.
- Siamak Hashemi: First PSA's secretary. He held this position in the interim time between the PSA's first day and the election of the first Board. He got his MS in EE and is now working in the bay area.
- Farhad Shakeri: Farhad was and still is the system administrator in the CS department and the owner of the infamous Tehran.Stanford.EDU. He helped us a lot by setting up a computer account for PSA on tehran.
- Rasool Khadem: The PSA's fourth president (96-97) and a member of constitution team. He got his PhD in EE in 1999 (or 1998).
The above photo is the closest thing to a picture of PSA's first board members which includes four out of five (not including Pedram Cohan). This was taken in Nowrouz celebration (April 2nd, 1994). People in the picture from left to right:
- Jalil Kamali
- Babak Hassibi: A member of the constituion team and a board member in the first year of PSA and the 2nd PSA president. He got his PhD in 1996.
- Behfar Razavi: A member of the constitution team and a member of the first and second PSA board.
- Hadi Taheri
The above photo is the one we took to be published in the Stanford photo directory. People in the picture standing from left to right:
- Azam Monifi: and her baby (Yasaman who is 7 years old now): Azam is Hamid Aghajan's wife.
- Hamid Aghajan: Hamid was PSA's first ombudsman. He graduated in 1994 in EE and is now working in the bay area.

- Behnam Tabrizi: A member of the constitution team. He got his PhD in business in 1994.

- Massoud Zargari: PSA's third president. He got his PhD in 1996 in EE.
