PSA Hike and Outdoor Breakfast
PSA is planning a hike and breakfast/brunch in Huddart park for next Saturday. We'll hike along the Dean trail for about 1.5-2 hours and then return back to the Zwierlein picnic area to have breakfast/brunch and hangout with friends. Please RSVP to psa-admin (at) lists.stanford.edu before Wed. 4/23 so that we can arrange carpools and get enough food for the brunch.

International Gala
Come enjoy free food, performances and exhibitions organized by Stanford's international community. The event will take place in the Arrillaga Alumni Center on Sunday, April 6 starting at 5:00 pm. Exhibitions and serving of food will take place first. So DON'T BE LATE, or you will miss the food! These will be followed by performances by a number of Stanford's international groups from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. This is a big event and always a lot of fun.
The PSA is going to have a cultural exhibition table, Persian food, and a traditional music performance by our own music group.
Please note that the event is free for all Stanford students and staff, but requires presenting your SUID at the entry. One additional guest is allowed per SUID.

PSA New Year Celebration

The Spring is in the air and the New Year is around the corner. We are going to get together to celebrate the Persian New Year, and uphold one of our most beautiful and adorable traditions that symbolically praises the joyful rejuvenation of the nature.
This year the vernal equinox is happening at 10:48 p.m. on March 19, and we will celebrate it in the Bechtel International Center. The details of the program are listed below. The program starts with serving the traditional "sabzi-polo-maahi" and "kookoo-sabzi". We will have a variety of fun activities such as games, movies,... for those who want to stay up late at the very first night of the year 1387.

PSA Election 2008

PSA Ski trip
As we are getting close to the ski season, many of you are looking forward to the PSA ski trip. This year PSA is going on its annual Martin Luther King Jr. weekend ski trip, and wants to enjoy your company. You can ski, snowboard or even sky-dive!!! No matter what your interests are, South Lake Tahoe has something for everyone.

We have booked three houses in South Lake Tahoe.
All of them are close to the Heavenly Ski Resort.
Each house is placed within less than 5 minutes driving distance of the other two.

Yalda Night
Even though some of us students might argue that the night before a final/paper deadline/quals is the longest night of the year, for everyone else "Shab-e Yalda" is the only night long enough to stay up late, have some pomegranate and enjoy the good company of friends. Please join PSA on Friday, December 21st, at 8:00 pm at the Timoshenko Lounge for a long night of awesome performances, lots of good food and a great time with a bunch of great people.

PSA Open House - New Graduate Student Orientation
s part of this year's New Graduate Student Orientation organized by the Graduate Student Council (GSC), PSA is holding an open-house event on Tuesday, Sept 18th, 6-8 pm at the Graduate Community Center's Nairobi room. The board is asking for the generous help of 8 member volunteers who would be present alongside all board members and answer any questions the newcomers might have. There will be plenty of food and Persian cookies available and you would be enjoying the wonderful company of fellow PSA members.

History and Role of the Violin in Traditional Persian Music
In this very special program, renowned Iranian composer, violinist and improviser, maestro Loghman Adhami reviews the history of the violin in traditional Persian music through interactive discussions and live demonstrations.

The program is not intended for children of 10 years of age or younger
PSA is reviving an old tradition by going on a camping trip to Yosemite in early September (Labor day weekend) and wants YOU to come too! We will be staying in tent cabins at Curry Village in the center of Yosemite valley and in the middle of the great outdoors, close to many of Yosemite's awesome hiking trails and waterfalls.

We will carpool from Stanford on Saturday morning. More information on rides will be provided later to those signed up.

Tent cabins at Curry Village in Yosemite valley.
Tent cabins are non-heated and each have 3 single and 1 double cots.
Cabins are provided with mattresses and blankets but you might want to bring your own sleeping bag and gear in case the weather goes crazy!
Cabin assignments will be based on the time of arrival.
PSA will host a BBQ on Sat. evening. Snacks and light breakfasts will be available throughout the trip.
