• Bio: Named "Bill Gates' Worst Nightmare" by the Financial Times, Shervin is a visionary technology entrepreneur, pub- lished researcher and technology incubation expert. Shervin is the founder and CEO of SGN, one of the leading social and mobile gaming companies, with over 8 million users onthe iPhone with title such as iBowl, iBasketball and (fluff) friends.
  Shervin was founding President and COO of Webs (formerly Freewebs), one of the largest social publishing communities in the world with over 30 million members and adding 1 million members every 60 days. Shervin currently serves on the Board of Directors of both SGN and Webs. Shervin has co-founded such companies as Hotprints to revolutionize the personal printing and direct marketing world and Hyperoffice, a leading Saas provider for small businesses.

  Behzad Razavi - Professor of Electrical Engineering at UCLA

• Bio: Behzad Razavi received the BSEE degree from Sharif University of Technology in 1985 and the MSEE and PhDEE degrees from Stanford University in 1988 and 1992, respectively. He is now Professor of electrical engineering at UCLA.
  Professor Razavi has received the Lockheed Martin Excellence in Teaching Award in 2006 and the UCLA Faculty Senate Teaching Award in 2007. He has also received the Beatrice Winner Award for Editorial Excellence at the 1994 ISSCC, the best panel award at the 1995 and 1997 ISSCC. He was the co-recipient of both the Jack Kilby Outstanding Student Paper Award and the Beatrice Winner Award for Editorial Excellence at the 2001 ISSCC. He was also recognized as one of the top 10 authors in the 50-year history of the ISSCC.
  Professor Razavi is an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer, a Fellow of IEEE, and the author of 5 books including Design of Analog CMOS Integrated Circuits and RF Micro- electronics.

  Event Details

  The third and final PSA-BA event of the 2006-07 academic year promises to be an insightful evening featuring a fantastic line-up of some of the most accomplished business minds in the high-tech industry. Our guest speakers will discuss the business strategies of their respective organizations, and the changes in strategy as the business continues to grow. They will shed light on their role in the development and implementation of each strategy and the key decisions that needed to be made under uncertainty. The talk will be followed by a panel discussion chaired by Professor Kathy Eisenhardt, Stanford Professor of Strategy and Organization and Research Director of the Stanford Technology Ventures Program.

  • The PSA-BA second seminar entitled What it takes to be a leader: the role of the CEO featured the keynote speaker, Mr. Hamid Moghadam, discussing the role of the CEO in large corporations and his insight into what it takes to be a successful leader. The talk was followed by an engaging question and answer session moderated by Lily Sarafan, a Stanford alumna and former PSA board member.
