About

The School of Engineering and the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University are proud to announce a new initiative, dedicated to enriching the product realization education at Stanford through immersive experiences with the manufacturing and design world.

At the core of the Product Realization Network at Stanford (PRN) is a group of faculty, staff, industry professionals and community "gurus" dedicated to educating students about the creation of products and the organizations that make them possible.

The PRN engages individuals from across the spectrum of the product realization community - undergraduates, graduate students, faculty, alumni, members of the community of practice, consultants and non-profit groups. This diversity of viewpoints and input creates a vibrant network of people passionate about how products get made and are supported.

The Product Realization Network is:
• A student-centric organization providing an education that is deeply immersive and hands-on
• An educational initiative promoting current product realization processes and business concepts as a successful pathway to innovation
• Founded in product realization practices that integrate design, manufacturing and business, and informed by mathematics and environmental, physical and social sciences
• Supported by a community fused from academic, professional and industrial groups motivated by the educational enterprise

Experiential Opportunities
The Product Realization Network offers a number of activities designed to expose students to actual manufacturing environments. These opportunities are structured to allow students to meet with and learn from practitioners in the manufacturing industry and include site visits, guest lectures, workshops, and internships.

PRN Manufacturing Mentoring Program
The Manufacturing Mentoring Program brings together experienced manufacturing executives and managers with Stanford students interested in learning more about what is involved in taking a design or prototype of a product into actual production at a pilot or mass production level.

Certificate in Product Creation and Innovative Manufacturing
Through the Stanford Center for Professional Development (SCPD), the PRN offers a certificate in Product Creation and Innovative Manufacturing, designed to provide Stanford students and industry professionals with a combination of engineering and business expertise needed to launch, manufacture, and distribute new products.
