Foundry, Welding + Plastics
Listed below are descriptions of the tools and facilities of this area of the shop.
Foundry and Casting:
The foundry facilities are used to pour castings in bronze
and aluminum. The student shops support both sand and lost
wax castings. The foundry also includes a finishing area where
students can polish, grind and sand their projects.
Sand Casting Welding + Metalworking:
The welding sheet metal facilities are combined in a single room.
Students use this room for a variety of welding processes, from
fine jewelry brazing to TIG welding. The sheet metal equipment is capable
of cutting .060" thick steel sheet metal and .1" aluminum sheet.
TIG Welding Plastics + Injection Molding:
The Plastics room is used primarily for injection
molding and vacuum forming.
