STAMP's first ever Shakespeare production, The Merchant of Venice, resurrects the infamous conflict between Shylock, a Jewish lender, and Antonia, a Christian businesswoman. Set in the modern context of the Bay Area and populated by characters surprisingly similar to our
selves, this production raises important questions about interfaith dialogue. Each performance will be followed by a fifteen minute talk back session.

Spring into Action

STAMP's Spring into Action is an annual festival of student-written plays with social activist themes.  Typical submissions are one-act plays about 15-45 minutes in length, but scripts of all sizes will be considered.

Last year, the show included the student-written musical Abraham Niu and the Friendly Fires (which became Pawn) by Karmia Cao '11, and Wealth of Words, which is a collection of student-written monologues about the experiences of Stanford students from low-income backgrounds.

Submissions are due by March 28 (first day of spring quarter classes).

The Stanford Theatre Activist Mobilization Project puts on several theater pieces each year, using theater to cultivate discussion and social change. All performances are free and open to the Stanford community and general public. We seek to educate, inspire, and mobilize people to take political action. In addition, we go to local high schools, colleges, and community organizations, sharing the voices of Stanford students about issues such as mental health, body image, and LGBTQ issues through monologue performance and discussion.

Now we ned your help to secure a major part of our funding for the coming year. To get onto the ASSU's Special Fees ballot, we need 1024 signatures on the form below. Please take a few seconds to sign!

Petition deadline is March 4 at 4pm.
