PAS is a student organization aimed at bringing together people of Pakistani origin and other members of the Stanford community interested in Pakistani culture. We provide a forum to discuss issues related to Pakistan and life at Stanford, and to pass on important news to each other. Our objective is to promote the culture, language and identity of Pakistan on campus, and to organize recreational, academic and cultural activities.

A discussion with Shuja Nawaz about the challenges facing Pakistan.

Recent events in Pakistan call for a fresh, pragmatic look at the country and the challenges faced by its new popularly-elected government.
Shuja Nawaz is an experienced Pakistani political and strategic analyst and will provide a discussion of the ramifications of currently unfolding events as well as insights into possible trajectories of issues facing the country. Mr. Nawaz is currently the Director of the South Asia Center at The Atlantic Council and has prior experience at the IMF, World Bank and the International Atomic Energy Agency. He has decades of journalistic experience and is an alumnus of Stanford University’s Publishing Program. His recent book, Crossed Swords, is critically acclaimed as one of the most in-depth analyses of Pakistan’s army and intelligence services.
(Crossed Swords will be on sale outside the event venue, books may be signed after the event.)
