Stanford Newtype Anime

Last week, we showed some Haruhi and Churuya cuteness as well as a bunch of cliffhangers. Swing by tonight at 8PM, room 200-030 for the exciting conclusion to Macross FRONTIER and Gurren Lagann! Since we only have three episodes in total remaining, we are also going to start showing Code Geass, one of our next shows.

There will be a weekly showing tonight at 8PM in room 200-030 in the History Corner basement. We will be showing some shorts for the random, and then we will show Macross FRONTIER 23-24 and Gurren Lagann 24-25. Be there!

Oops, guess I forgot to post about last week’s showing, where we watched episodes 19-20 of Macross FRONTIER and episodes 20-21 of Gurren Lagann in addition to the one-shot Maria Holic episode 1. Tonight, we will be showing episodes 21-22 of Macross FRONTIER and episodes 22-23 of Gurren Lagann in room 200-030 at 8PM as usual. See you there!

Frederik Schodt will be presenting a talk on Osamu Tezuka titled “At the Center of the Anime/Manga Revolution: Osamu Tezuka and Astro Boy.” It will take place in Encina Hall’s Phillipines Conference Room from 12:00PM to 1:15PM. Lunch will be provided as well.

By the way, there will be a set of screenings (unrelated to Newtype) sponsored by the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford University, the Center for East Asian Studies at Stanford University, the Stanford Institute for Creativity and the Arts as well as the Stanford Humanities Center. They are calling this “The Art of Anime - Contemporary Art-Animation From Japan” and will be showing subtitled anime on seven Thursdays from 7PM-9PM in Cubberly Auditorium.

Hey everyone! Welcome back to Stanford for Winter Quarter. We will be showing more Gurren Lagann and Macross FRONTIER this quarter, but please note the room change. Our first showing is going to be this Friday, January 16, 2009 at 8PM in room 200-030. See you there!

Hey everyone! We will be closing out the quarter with a study break, featuring one episode each of Macross FRONTIER and Gurren Lagann, followed by a raffle for two gift certificates from Right Stuf, an online anime retailer. Each time you filled out a survey at the end of showing, you were automatically entered into this drawing. After the raffle, we will be just chilling and playing either DDR, Smash Brothers or some other fun games while socializing. See you there!
