RE: Congestion

Are you running W2k3 DNS servers? If you are, try turning off EDNS0 support (quietly enabled as the default in W2k3). We were recently bit by this. EDNS lets DNS use large UDP packets to return large responses, These large responses are typically from people who do lots of server farm load balancing who return a large number of IPs for a single query. Typically it really a firewall issue where the firewall doesn't have EDNS support and therefore spits these packets back.

When running the 'sys km pkt type' command, I notice that line 50
"congestion" is always above 75%. Is this normal??

We are running the 4500 with 6.0.2 and are experiencing intermittent web
problems. It seems as if WebPages aren't there for some people, yet
others are able to get to the sites just fine. These aren't oddball
sites, but CNN, MSNBC, YAHOO and others.

	Anyone have any ideas?

	Thanks
	Shayne
