Quick Search

Quick Search allows search on record name, IP address and hardware addresses. Quick Search can be accessed from the NetDB home page, record information pages and Quick Search results pages.

The following inputs and formats are recognized in Quick Search. Multiple search parameters and boolean operators are not allowed. The use of quotes will be interpreted as part of the search string. For example searching for Nodes named "foo", will mean you want to find all nodes whose names are "foo", including the quotes.

Record Types

Name Types

  • Node Name
  • IP Address Name
  • Interface Name
  • IPC IP Address Name
  • Dynamic DHCP Address Name

    • 36.21.0.100 (smallest meaningful range, a single IP address)
    • 36.21/14 or 2607:f6d0:c001::/64 (larger ranges in CIDR prefix format)

Output

The first column of Quick Search results is the name of the record or the IP address. The next columns are possible actions - Mod (Modify), Tmpl (Use as Template), and Del (Delete). For Networks, the first address space is also displayed. Node results also have the following features:

  • Node entries are sorted by type. A Node with multiple types will be listed under each associated type.
  • If searching by IP address, results are sorted by IP address
  • If searching by name, results are sorted by name. If name is an alias, node name is listed instead of IP address.
  • If searching by hardware address, since wildcards are not allowed, a single match is returned with name.
