The Natural Path Meditation Group
Student Organization, Stanford University

Constitution

The Natural Path Meditation group at Stanford University aims to provide students with means to learn and practice meditation in their daily lives. The group finds inspiration from a worldwide non-profit organization, Shri Ram Chandra Mission (SRCM). SRCM has been approved for formal association with the United Nations Department of Public Information (DPI), effective 12 December 2005. SRCM teaches a natural method of meditation to all interested seekers of spirituality free of charge, irrespective of one's race, religion, nationality, education, or social standing. The unifying interest of the group will be to meet weekly to meditate together on campus for approximately 30 to 45 minutes. The motivation to get together is to reflect on feelings, thoughts, experiences and spiritual condition felt after group meditation. These thoughts and experiences could be very unique and personal for each aspirant. Weekly meetings provide members with an opportunity to relate and discuss their spiritual progress with other members of the group. Following group meditation, published works of the SRCM would be read to help increase sensitivity and build trust amongst members.

Meditation is in essence yoga of the mind and can help a person achieve inner perfection. Meditation helps an individual attain mental acuity, inner balance and peace; it also assists in cleaning of the mind by removing obstructions put up by one's ego in the form of negative traits and attitudes. Over and above these benefits, meditation works at a deeper level where it helps people evolve into more awakened souls that can feel, see and experience life at a spiritual level. This group at Stanford University would help students seek spirituality via a remodeled system of raja yoga. This pristine system has been refined for the modern day life and is based on a heart centered meditation practice, which anyone can follow. The ultimate goal is inner perfection or self-realization of interested aspirants.

To be able to effectively spread the message of raja yoga within the Stanford community, our activities on campus would include open houses and speaker events wherein senior members from SRCM will give talks on the philosophy and practicing methodology of the Mission. SRCM has a presence in almost every country in the world, with a total of more than 1500 training centers. This organization is not affiliated with any political or religious belief. With the guidance from our mentors, and the active participation of our student members we aim to guide Stanford students towards a simple path of self-realization.
