NASSLLI 2002 will be open to all. There are no prerequisites for participation and the
summer school welcomes everyone interested in its program and its themes. It is especially
suitable for students, researchers, and teachers of logic, linguistics, mathematics,
philosophy, and cognitive and computer science, and it will provide relevant exposure
to contemporary problem-solving techniques to IT professionals.
You can register for NASSLLI 2002 by filling out the
registration form. You can either fill it out online or send us a printed version
by fax or regular mail (see the registration page for address information). We do,
however, encourage you to register online. Before you fill out the form, please read
the information below and take a look at the page on
accommodation options.
The following refers to the steps on the registration form:
Personal Information
Remember to clearly put down your name, mailing address, and email address. This
information is mandatory, and the form cannot be sent unless you have filled in all
the required slots.
Registration Fee
The registration fee only covers participation in NASSLLI '02. Expenses such as
accommodation, meals, and social activities are not included in this fee.
Reduced Fees: Participants registering before April 15th, 2002 are entitled
to the reduced fee. Speakers in the student session are also, regardless
of whether or not they register before April 15th.
Tuition Grants: We will be giving away a limited number of tuition grants
for students in special circumstances. See below for instructions on how to apply.
All tuition waivers and ASL scholarships will be given out by June 13th. To ensure
that your application is given full consideration, you should send it in as early
as possible before June 13th. Applications must be mailed to the following address:
NASSLLI 2002
c/o Department of Philosophy
Stanford University
Stanford, CA 94305-2155
USA
Your application must contain the following four items in order to be considered complete:
A cover letter outlining your own research interests and how they match with the aims
of NASSLLI. The letter should also include all of your contact information as well as your
academic affiliations, so we can get in touch with you to notify you about the status of your
application.
A letter of recommendation from one of your professors.
A statement of projected sources of funding and expenses - the more supportion
documentation you include here, the better. For example, if your statement shows that
you will not be receiving funding from your department, you should have a letter from them
claiming that they are unable to fund you, or something to that effect.
One of the following three things:
Acceptance for participation in the student session. If you have not yet been
notified about the status of your paper, at least indicate that you have submitted one.
A letter from an external source that offers you partial funding.
The indication of something within your projected expenses showing that you would
have to shoulder the burden of extremely high costs for things such as travel in order
to attend. Supporting documentation showing that this will be an unavoidable expense is
required.
Also, please be clear about which scholarship you are applying for. ASL scholarships may be
used to cover more than tuition, but only a very small number of them are available.
Accommodation
We offer eight basic accommodation packages in Stanford University residences. Please note
that the number of spaces is limited. We expect a considerably larger number of

Due Date: For those participants paying by cheque, if your payment has not been received by May 22nd, your registration will be cancelled.

Preliminary Course Preferences
You are asked to indicate which courses you are planning to take, in order to help us
get an idea of how many participants we can expect to attend various courses, and
to allow us to reserve adequate teaching space. Selecting these options here does not
commit you to taking these courses.
