My name is Paul Chief and I am from Black Mesa. My wife, Lillian and I have five children. When I think back on my life, before I knew Christ as Savior and Lord, I had no idea what life was about beyond eating and sleeping. Somewhow I kenw there was more but until I stopped running from God and learned of His great love and plan for my life, I had little hope.
One day my son said to me, "Father, my nother and, sister and I are going to go to heaven, what about you?" That was about the hardest question that I had ever been asked and it stayed with me. I had been hearing God's Word most of my life but until that point I didn't think I had time to consider it. Some weeks later I decided to go to church with my family and there I accepted the Lord. From that day on I had such a deep long to know God and live for him.
In time, the Lord led me to quit my job at the coal mine and go to Bible School in Flagstaff. I began to grow in my knowledge of the Lord and to learn my place in life was to serve Him amoung my people. Today I am teaching His Word to them and showing them how they can live for the Lord. We need young men in the ministry as some of the Navajo Christian leaders are gowing old and need support. We need to get the Gospel out to all the world as the Lord said in his Word. I go by the 19th and 20th verses in Matthew. We need to go beyond our salvation and teach our people to follow the Lord and to reach out to others with the Gospel.
I am very thankful that the Lord is my Lord and I have a personal relationship with Him which shall stand as long as I am under His Lordship.
Paul with his wife, Lillian, are full time workers supported by the Navajo Baptist Church of Cedar Ridge and are involved in evangelism and visitation.
