About the
Institute
El Camino Real is one boundary of the Stanford campus (maps), and Campus Drive makes a large loop around the main part of campus. From Palm Drive, turn right onto Campus Drive, and then immediately turn left onto Lomita (note the Cantor Museum and the Rodin Garden). Metered and "A" parking spots are along the left side; parking is monitored from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; meters require a quarter ($0.25) for each 15 minutes. Walk south-west to Serra Mall, which is the street on which the Main Quadrangle fronts. The Gilbert Building is one block north-west from the Main Quadrangle along Serra Mall. The Morrison Institute is in Room 116, the Gilbert Building, 371 Serra Mall, Stanford. For general orientation, see a Bay Area map. If coming north or south on Highway 101 exit west onto University Avenue and pass through downtown Palo Alto. Now you're in the Stanford vicinity (see map above). Continue taking University Avenue under the train tracks and continue straight until you are on Palm Drive looking down the palm-lined street to the mosaic-fronted church. Stay in the left lane to go straight across Arboretum. Then take the right lane to turn right onto Campus Drive. Now see Specific Directions, above.
