Learning Portfolio
One of the objectives of the E140
course sequence is to create an
environment for continual learning. An important part of this
process comes specifically in the autumn quarter, when
students present living case studies of their summer experience.
However, to encourage ongoing reflection among the Mayfield
Fellows, each creates a web-based Learning Portfolio in E140.
The intention of the learning portfolio is to integrate learning
with all relevant experiences throughout the year. During this
time, these portfolios represent a "work in progress" as students
encounter new concepts, frameworks, and theories. At the end of the
year, the portfolios are reviewed formally as part of the evaluation
for that student. In addition, the students present the websites
to each other in a closing session of E140C in the autumn.
Fellows are encouraged to find creative ways to integrate experiences
from their personal "lessons learned". Using a web-based medium, it
is possible for them to integrate a mutltitude of supporting
material, from articles to projects to news items.
