WHO CAN USE TMU SPACE?

  • Voluntary Student Organizations registered with the Office of Student Activities.
  • Nonresidential Fraternal Organizations
  • University Departments
  • Conferences receiving President's Office Approval through the Conference Office or University Event Service
  • Affiliates including the Stanford Mother's Club, Stanford Staffs and United Stanford Workers, etc.
  • Private functions by Stanford community personnel (staff, students, alumni, etc.) that are associated with the educational mission of the University and/or serve University clientele (for example, weddings, holiday parties, etc.). Private company parties and aerobic classes are not permitted.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE MAY ROOMS BE SCHEDULED?

All space is reserved on a first-come, first-served basis, generally up to a quarter in advance. Specific requirements follow:

  1. REGISTERED VOLUNTARY STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS AND NONRESIDENTIAL ORGANIZATIONS.
    • Regular weekly meetings or Nonacademic Classes: May be scheduled the last two weeks of each quarter, one room per quarter, one meeting per week.
    • One-time events: May be scheduled up to one year in advance.
  2. UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENTS AND AFFILIATES
    • Regular (weekly or monthly) meetings or events: May be scheduled one quarter in advance if the event is to end by 5:00pm. May be scheduled the last two weeks of the quarter if the event ends after 5:00p.m.
    • One-time events: May be schedule up to one year in advance.
  3. CONFERENCES
    • Academic year conferences must receive presidential approval through University Event Services; Summer conferences through the Conference Office.
  4. PRIVATE FUNCTIONS*
    • If held during summer or other official University break periods, they may be scheduled up to one year in advance.
    • *For wedding receptions, at least one immediate family member of the wedding couple must be a member of the Stanford community (e.g., student, faculty, staff, alumni). Company parties are not permitted even if an individual in the company is a member of the Stanford community.
  5. MAJOR UNIVERSITY EVENTS
    • Some major University events may be scheduled up to two years in advance. Examples include Registration Cashiering and the Stanford Holiday Faire.

WHAT TYPES OF EVENTS ARE NOT HELD IN TRESIDDER?

  • Events longer than one week in duration
  • Theater productions
  • Physical activity classes
  • Classes for credit

WHAT TYPE OF MEETINGS REQUIRE ROOM CHARGES?

Private functions such as weddings, birthday parties or showers and conferences require fees. (Departmental farewell parties may be scheduled without room charges.) A conference is defined as a meeting, workshop, lecture or class that involves at least 50% of its participants external to the University, and or charges participants some form of registration fee

CAN FUNDRAISING EVENTS BE HELD IN TRESIDDER?

Yes. If the proceeds are designated to a campus organization or department. Please check with the Office of Student Activities for details on fundraising events. Money collected for student organizations must be deposited with ASSU banking. If the proceeds are designated to an off-campus recipient, full room usage charges will be levied.
