“MCS is a terrific major and I am glad I have found it early on in my undergrad career. It allows much flexibility but at the same time gives me necessary background to dive deep into any topic in mathematical science. I love that I can tailor my major to fit my goal, in my case, a Ph.D. in biostatistics and computational biology.”
“In terms of advising, Prof. Efron's advices resonate with my need and guide me to a productive direction. I still remember he said: "all great statisticians started off just like you"; and that has inspired me to pursue an advanced degree in Biostatistics. I also enjoy quarterly pizza parties and faculty dinner. I appreciate all the effort Helen and the faculty have put into making MCS a fun and friendly major.”
- NARUT SEREEWATTANAWOOT - With Phi Beta Kappa.
Narut is doing a co-term in Statistics next year at Stanford. He is planning to apply to PhD program in Applied Mathematics in the fall.
- TREVOR RAYMOND SHADDOX - With Distinction.
Next year Trevor will be at Stanford getting his masters (co-terminal) in
Biomedical Informatics from the Medical School.
“ If you guys go through the introductions before I am there,
let all the MCS students know what an awesome program BMI is! I hope to
go to medical school. But, the most important thing is how grateful I
am for MCS. This dept. has been absolutely fantastic. From the pizza
parties to the classes to the advising, MCS has completely surpassed all
my expectations for what a major department would be. If I were a
freshman again, I would declare MCS the first week at Stanford. Thank
you all very much for making my Stanford experience so great!”
