Stanford Research Experience Program

Introducing the Research Experience Program (REP)!

The Research Experience Program (REP) is a collaboration between Stanford University and local community colleges. This program was created to enrich the educational experiences at neighboring community colleges, as well as to improve the quality of Stanford research, particularly experimental research, in the social sciences. The REP brings Stanford researchers onto local community college campuses so that community college students can participate in formal social science research projects. Students enrolled in courses participating in the REP earn course credit by taking part in experiments conducted by Stanford researchers.

The REP has created partnerships between Stanford University and local community colleges that are mutually beneficial. Participation in formal social science experiments for course credit is standard practice at most American four-year institutions of higher learning. However, many local community colleges are not able to provide their students this sort of pedagogical enrichment because formal research is not regularly conducted on community college campuses. The REP enriches student experience by allowing community college students to participate in social science research projects.
