Tinker Visiting Professorships
Appointments of distinguished scholars and educators from Latin America, Iberia, or Canada, are nominated by Stanford faculty each year to teach in their nominating department or school for a period of one to three quarters. Appointees typically teach one course per quarter and are required to give a public lecture at CLAS during their stays. Submit nomination by last day of the autumn quarter. Joaquim Nabuco Chair in Brazilian Studies
One appointment of a distinguished scholar from Brazil, nominated by Stanford faculty, to lecture and do research at Stanford for a short term. Appointment may be considered for extension via a concurrent nomination for a Tinker Professorship. Submit nomination by last day of the autumn quarter.
Visiting Scholar Status
Offered during the academic year to scholars wishing to undertake independent research using Stanford University Libraries. CLAS sponsors library access, basic email privileges, and visas for international scholars. Office space occasionally available for those proposing to participate in CLAS activities. Direct applications are considered on a rolling basis. Contact Associate Director Megan Gorman for more information.
