Grants & Fellowships > Joaquim Nabuco Chair in Brazilian Studies
For several years, the Center for Latin American Studies has been endowed with money earmarked to bring a leading Brazilian scholar to Stanford to lecture and do research for a short term. Nabuco professors are nominated by their peers at Stanford. While at Stanford, Nabuco chairholders must also deliver a public lecture at CLAS.
Eligibility: Open to Brazilian scholars whose expertise would complement Stanford courses.
Nomination Process: Professors in any department at Stanford are invited to nominate their Brazilian peer for the Nabuco Chair. Nomination information is available at Bolivar House.
Selection Criteria: Fellowships will be granted based on a committee review of the nominees' work in their respective fields and their availability to travel to and live in the U.S.
Duration: Varies.
Nominate By: Last day of Autumn Quarter in the preceding academic year.
