Cleaning The Oven Without Oven Cleaner

I think the oven cleaner has some nasty chemicals. It's not fun to breathe that stuff in, and we should cut down the risk of that stuff getting into our food. Here I propose a way to clean the oven without using that can of oven cleaner.

The Bottom Pan
The bottom pan is usually the dirtiest because stuff drips down on it. Lift up by the hole, pull out, and take it to the sink. The metal scrubber helps to get off the carbonized remains of food. Then wash the pan with sponge and detergent. Let dry and replace in oven.

The Other Sides
The top, left, right, and back surfaces of the oven are trickier. There's nothing to take out. I suggest that for the weekly Sunday hash these sides do not need to be super-cleaned, unless it is obviously dirty. Usually gravity keeps food from getting to these surfaces. I suggest a simple scrubbing with a damp (not dripping) sponge is enough. At some point you will use the oven cleaner to clean these surfaces. But it doesn't have to happen every week.

The Oven Door
Damp sponge. Scrub. Use metal scrubber if needed. Water, simple green, or detergent will do.

The oven is done!
