| Stanford Judoka Compete at the USA Judo National Presidents Cup Congratulations to Brandon Morgan, who competed, and Ray O'Dell, who took 3rd place at this year's Presidents Cup in Irvine, CA. With his 3rd-place finish in the -73kg senior male division, Ray secured two C-level points for himself, earning a spot on the national rosters. Way to go Ray! Stanford Kids Compete at Boys and Girls Club of South San Francisco Congratulations to the Stanford kids who recently participated at the Boys and Girls Club Tournament on May 12th! Brandon Morgan - promoted to shodan (first degree black belt) Stanford Judo attends the 2012 Collegiate Nationals On March 10th, the Stanford Judo team competed in the 2012 NCJA Collegiate Nationals tournament in San Jose, CA. Collegiate Nationals is an 'E-level' tournament for black belt competition and drew one of the largest fields in recent memory. Individual results are given below: 1st Place - Katrina Pura Congratulations to all the Stanford judoka who competed! Club Sports Fundraiser If you are free this Friday (2/17) at 4pm please come to Burnham Pavilion in the Ford Center (across from Arrillaga, see link) to help the judo team raise $500 by dismantling gymnastics equipment. This money will pay for achievement trophies and van travel expenses. It should only take a couple hours if enough of us show up and we will go out to eat afterwards. Even if you can only make it at 5pm or 6pm drop by to help out! Thanks, Belt Promotions Congratulations to the Stanford judoka who were recently promoted following the San Jose Buddhist Tournament! Kenny White - promoted to shodan (first degree black belt) Stanford Judo attends the 2012 San Jose Buddhist Sensei Memorial Tournament On January 29th, the Stanford Judo team competed in the 2012 San Jose Buddhist (SJB) Sensei Memorial Tournament in San Jose, CA. The SJB tournament is a 'D-level' tournament for senior-level competition, and it is the largest judo tournament on the west coast. Although competition was tough, Stanford players competed admirably, earning enough team points to place 7th out of a total 120 clubs represented. While higher-placing teams brought upwards of 80 competitors, Stanford earned their points with just 10 senior and 10 junior competitors. Individual results from the adult competitors are given below: 1st Place - Shasten Hill Congratulations to all the Stanford judoka who competed! New Website Design In February, Stanford Judo re-launched its website with a brand new look. The new site was designed by Brandon Morgan: brown belt, Stanford Judo webmaster, and graduate student in the department of Aeronautics & Astronautics.
