PC Software
PC-Stanford consists
of site-licensed
software for Stanford faculty, students, and staff. The software
suite includes Internet applications, such as Eudora
for e-mail, Netscape Communicator
for World Wide Web browsing, Samson for Windows (telnet client)
for accessing the Leland servers or Forsythe, and WS_FTP
for transferring files to Leland or Forsythe accounts.
The ITSS Computer Resource Center
(CRC) supports the PC-Stanford software suite for connecting
to Stanford's network and the Internet.
To obtain technical support for PC-Stanford, you can call
the Stanford IT Help Desk at 725-HELP, or use your Web browser to submit
a HelpSU request.
PC Hardware
The Stanford-Dell
Computer Purchase Program provides Stanford-specific PC desktop
and laptop bundles at steeply discounted prices.
Requires a SUNet ID and password.
Also, the ITSS Application
Development & Delivery Environment unit recommends Administrative
Desktop configurations to help departments decide which PCs
to purchase.
For hardware maintenance needs, Microdisc provides a Repair
Service.
