OBJECTIVE

A Hardware Design Engineer with responsibility for system design from PCB schematics design to bring-up and verification to assure the system meets the technical requirement specifications.

SUMMARY

Hardware engineer with nine years industrial experience in the design of communication boards ranging from stand-alone applications to PC-based products.  Strengths include:

·         Analog and digital product design from schematics development to layout design.

·         Full end-to-end customer support including board schematics review, lab trouble-shooting and documentation.

·         Using Cadence, Orcad and Altera Max ++.

·         Organized, disciplined, detail-oriented and creative problem-solver.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Hardware Systems Engineer.                                                                     1999 to 2003

Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (AMCC), Sunnyvale, California.

Supported customers in switch / router system design, bring-up and verification using AMCC products such as Network Processors, Switch Fabrics and Traffic Managers. Wrote AMCC product documentation including datasheets, application notes and programmers’ manuals. Collaborated with chip designers in product bring-up, lab trouble-shooting & timing analysis. Trained customers and internal engineers with company products.

·         Reviewed customer system architecture and board schematics, which accelerated customer board debugging.

·         Initiated and developed System Design Guidelines which dramatically improved efficiency and accuracy of the customers’ design process

·         Generated systematic timing analysis procedures, which facilitated board design internally and for customers.

·         Created System Bring-up Guidelines, which clarified and streamlined customer trouble-shooting during bring-up & verification.

Hardware Development Engineer.                                                                                                                                         1998 to 1999

VisionTech, Herzlia, Israel.

Developed PCI-based PC boards for encoding digital video.  Performed system design, captured schematics with ORCAD and supervised board layout and assembly.  Performed board verification using Logic Analyzer System.  Led production release and assisted software team during driver and application development.

·         Designed evaluation board for VisionTech KFIR device (MPEG-2 Encoder / Multiplexer) and supervised 6-layer board layout including placement, routing & rename.

Hardware Development Engineer.                                                                       1998

RADLAN Computer Communications Ltd., Tel-Aviv, Israel.

Developed digital communication boards for 10/100Mbit Ethernet LAN Switches. Specified and performed design, entered schematics and wrote documentation.  Supervised board layout.  Described the control logic in VHDL using ALTERA’s Max ++ software for the synthesis and verification.

·         Designed a layer-2 switching board with 24 fast Ethernet ports using Galileo devices: Budget (switched G-link controller) & Hertz (switched Ethernet controller).  Supervised 8-layer board layout including placement, routing & rename.

Hardware Engineer.                                                                         1997 to 1998

Motorola Communication Ltd., Tel-Aviv, Israel.

Responsible for monitoring a control system product line in mass production. Tested, maintained and revised products and records.

·         In two days, located and corrected subtle compatibility flaw that had crippled new programmable chip production for a few months.  Resolved many other similar cases.

·         Technically managed and organized testing including design changes necessary to comply with EMC/EMI compatibility and certification.
