Current Focus
IRiSS is conducting a broad survey of research technology needs across the Social Science departments at Stanford University intending to discover overlapping needs among the research faculty. To this end, our Academic Technology Specialist- Vijoy Abraham- is engaged in faculty interviews and has identified topics which IRiSS will further explore, including:
- Shared use and management of school-wide human subject participant pools.
- Observational and multi-media equipped research lab rooms for behavioral research.
- Extensible web-based data collection tools, including survey software development.
Internal Resources
Academic Technology Specialist Vijoy Abraham has joined the staff as the Academic Technology Specialist for the Institute. Vijoy comes to us after five years of work fostering technology use in teaching and research with the Department of Psychology.
Social Science Data and Software Social Science Data and Software (SSDS) is a group within the Stanford University Libraries & Academic Information Resources (SULAIR) that provides services and support to Stanford faculty, staff and students in the acquisition of social science data and the selection and use of quantitative (statistical) and qualitative analysis software.
Academic Computing - ATS Program Stanford’s Academic Technology Specialists work in alignment with the University's commitment to excellence in education and its general vision to improve teaching, learning, and research by implementing and developing new technologies.
ITSS Compute Environments Several high-specification and multi-processor computers are available for those seeking to run CPU-intensive jobs. These machines also have numerous site-licensed statistical and mathematical modeling software packages available.
