Kavita Kapadia
Director of the Urban Teacher Education Program (UTEP), has nearly fifteen years of experience in preparing teachers for urban schools. She has been a Chicago Public Schools classroom teacher, demonstration-classroom teacher, literacy teacher-leader, mentor teacher, adjunct faculty at Northwestern and National Louis Universities, and is a co-founder of New Teachers Network, a teacher induction program formerly based at USI. Kavita holds a master's degree in education and administrative certification and is currently a doctoral candidate in the University of Chicago Department of Sociology. Her research focuses on preservice preparation and new teacher induction. As UTEP director, Kavita oversees all day-to-day operations of the program and coordinates all recruitment, programming, reporting, accreditation, and evaluation activities.
