Mentoring
Ozlem and Shikhar have become mentors for two masters students still interested in the program this year. The mentoring program will begin full force at the beginning of the fall quarter. Brandon promoted going into undergraduate classes during the first week to get the students involved. The program will match students with similar interests and host either a lunch or dinner each quarter.
Faculty Lunches
Dalerie plans to organize two faculty lunches for undergraduate students during the spring quarter. She also suggested the possibility of a lunch targeting masters students, the largest and most transient portion of our management science community. Perhaps a consulting professor would be an appropriate host, or even an industry affiliate. We will need to secure funding for this additional event.
Brown Bag Talk Series
The first two talks for the spring quarter have already been scheduled. Ozlem has also communicated with two possible faculty speakers and hopefully another student from the risk analysis area. Operation of the talks will likely shift to Anne next quarter, as Ozlem has a time conflict. We also discussed inviting our original PRISMS keynote speaker, who had to cancel at the last minute, for a special venue sometime in spring.
Spring Picnic
Our spring picnic and officer elections for the 2002-2003 school year are currently slated for the beginning of May. The day will include food and some sort of fun community activity, similar to last year's Tug-o-War and Baby Name Contest.
Case Study Competition
After our successful case study competition at PRISMS, our executive team has been invited to conduct another competition for the Asia/Pacific Entreprenuership Summit (ASES) on Friday, April 12th. Dalerie plans to meet with the woman who extended the offer to find out more details.
Odds and Ends
- Shikhar will get the PRISMS pictures developed.
- Dalerie plans to put together a yearbook submission for Stanford INFORMS, using some of the PRISMS pictures.
- Holly will be beefing up the PRISMS registration packet flyer with more information and PRISMS pictures, to be submitted to OR/MS Tomorrow.
- Brandon is checking out prices for Stanford INFORMS T-shirts.
