Frank Nothaft
Major, Year: Electrical Engineering, BS 2011
Biography: Frank is a BSH candidate in
Electrical Engineering and a minor candidate in Management
Science & Engineering. Frank's academic interests are in digital
systems design and computer architecture. Frank has worked with
Stanford IEEE over the past three years as a Freshman Intern his
Freshman year, and as the Undergraduate Liason his Sophomore
year. This is Frank's second year as Stanford IEEE chair. Frank
originally hails from Vienna, VA, a small suburb of Washington,
DC, and used to compete for the Stanford Track and Field team,
but now competes as an unattached athlete in the discus and
hammer throws.

Biography: James is a senior in Electrical
Engineering. He's interested in optimization and signal
processing. When procrastinating, he likes to read about
healthcare, government, and art.

Justin Hou
Major, Year: Electrical Engineering, BS 2012 Biography:
Justin is a junior in computer science, and has been involved
with Stanford IEEE since his freshman year, when he joined as a
Freshman Intern. Since then, Justin has served two years as
Stanford IEEE's treasurer. Outside of IEEE, Justin is a member
of Lambda Phi Epsilon.

Vijay Narasimhan
Major, Year:
Electrical Engineering, Phd 2014 Biography:
Vijay is a PhD candidate and Fulbright Scholar in the Materials Science
Department at Stanford. Vijay is investigating how to use nanoscale
roughness and ultra-thin surface coatings to make electron emission more
efficient in sensors and energy conversion devices. He holds a Masters
in Nanotechnology from the University of Cambridge and an undergraduate
Computer Engineering degree from the University of Ottawa. He brings 8 years of service with the IEEE to his new role as EDS
Chapter Chair. He served as Chair of the University of Ottawa Student
Branch and was Membership Development Chair with IEEE Ottawa Section and
IEEE Canada (Region 7). He has been awarded the IEEE's Larry K. Wilson
Award and the IEEE Canadian Scholarship for his service.

Mingyu Kim
Major, Year: Computer Science, BS 2011
Biography:
Mingyu is a Computer Science student, specializing in
Artificial Intelligence. He has been a member of Stanford IEEE
for the past two years and served as a corporate liaison. He
likes to go swimming in the sunshine and play squash.

Biography: James is a senior focusing in
Computer Software who has spent many nights cursing at segfaults.
He feels lucky to be at Stanford-- where the entrepreneurial

Aakanksha
Major, Year: Electrical Engineering, PhD 2012
Biography: Aakanksha Chowdhery received the B.Tech. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, in 2007 and the M.S. degree in electrical engineering in 2009 from Stanford University, Stanford, CA, where she is currently working toward the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering under Prof. John M. Cioffi. Her research interests include communication theory and its applications to wireless and wire-line systems. During her graduate studies, she has been working on dynamic resource management algorithms for multicell wireless systems, digital subscriber lines and power-line communications. She is a recipient of Stanford’s Diversifying Academia, Recruiting Excellence (DARE) fellowship award in 2010.

Sudarshan is a second year
Masters student in Computer Science, with a focus on Information
Retrieval, Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning. He
is passionate about the outreach of CS research to the student

Rahul Pandey

Biography:
Rahul Pandey is a sophomore from Rochester, Michigan studying
Computer Science. He is excited to contribute to Stanford IEEE
in his first year with the organization. Outside of IEEE, Rahul
has been involved with electromagnetic metamaterial research,
Stanford Alumni Mentoring, and Sanskriti, a South Asian cultural

Siddharth Jonathan

Biography: Siddharth Jonathan is an alum of the Computer Science Masters program where he graduated with Distinction in Research. He also received the Best Masters Thesis Award at Stanford in Computer Science. He is currently a Scientist at Powerset where he works on Ranking for the Powerset Natural Language Search Engine. His research interests span Web Search, Machine Learning, Probabilistic Models, Text Mining and NLP. Nitin Dua

Biography: Nitin has been involved with IEEE
since 2003. He has great interest in cleantech, healthcare and
high-tech areas and is involved in entrepreneurial ventures.
Previously, he has got experiences in investments at premier
financial firms, venture fund, technology companies and research
institutes. He holds a Masters in Electrical Engineering from
Stanford University. He has held engineering associate positions
at Wolfson Center, UK and visiting scholar position at Stanford
also. In his spare time, he enjoys tennis, experimentation with

Ze Yuan
Major, Year: Electrical Engineering, MS/PhD 2014 Biography: Ze Yuan / Zachary Yuan received his B.Eng. degree from the Department of Microelectronics and Nanoelectronics, Tsinghua University in July, 2009. In his senior year of undergraudate study, Ze Yuan worked with the CAD group, Institute of Microelectronics, Tsinghua University, under the guidance of Prof. Zhiping Yu. His past research interests are in the modeling of nanoscale electronic devices, including compact modeling of multi-gate MOSFETs and quantum transport modeling. Ze Yuan is now working towards his MS/PhD degrees at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Stanford University. His study is supported by Stanford Graduate Fellowship.

Andrew Ma

MS/PhD 2014 Biography: Andrew Ma
received his B.S. degree from the Department of Electrical
Engineering and Computer Sciences from the University of
California, Berkeley. He is now working towards his MS/PhD
degrees at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Stanford
University. His research interests are autonomous implantable
medical electronics.
