I'm an engineer. Will this conference help me? Absolutely. There are a growing number of “business” careers and positions that demand technical skills. Not only do we offer a specific workshop on Leveraging your engineering degree, but you will find that almost all of the panels and workshops relate to you and the way that your major intersects with the world of business. Many business fields, from marketing to copyright law to project management, require engineering backgrounds. Complement your engineering skills with practical business knowledge!
I haven't picked a major and I know nothing about business. Will this conference help me? You are facing lots of choices! This business conference will help you make informed decisions by giving you the opportunity to explore at least two areas of interest. We expect people to come from a variety of backgrounds, and as a result our workshops and panels are very “user-friendly”. Everyone has to start somewhere, and “I don't know” to CEO gives you a great platform from which to begin thinking about how business may intersect with your academic or professional interests. So start learning today! View sample session selections based on major or career interest
I'm an undergraduate. How will this conference help me? As an undergraduate, you've probably noticed a lack of introductory business courses at Stanford. Students from many disciplines have been clamoring to learn more about marketing, entrepreneurship, and other careers that might intersect with their fields of study. In an effort to give you very practical career information as an undergraduate, this conference can inform the activities and studies that you pursue during your time at Stanford. Even if you're about to graduate, the conference can give you a concrete set of skills and frameworks with which to approach “the real world”. I'm a graduate student. How will this conference help me? “I Don't Know” To CEO is designed to deliver a breadth of business knowledge, advice, and insight with students. Graduate students from many disciplines will benefit from this conference. Graduate students who already have practical business experience can still gain from the panels and workshops within or outside their foundation of experience. View sample session selections based on major or career interest I'm a graduate student at the Graduate School of Business. Can I attend? Due to the introductory nature of the "I don't know" to CEO content and the limited capacity, we strongly discourage GSB students from registering. If you would like to attend, please e-mail your request to idk2ceo2007@gmail.com I already have a job. How will this conference help me? Several workshops at the conference are designed to deliver skills and insights to people who don't necessarily need job-seeking advice, but rather are looking for ways to learn more about their field or improve their professional skills. In particular, we offer workshops on negotiation and leadership as well as panels on business topics including trends in Latin America, decision-making at the executive level, and new product developments that all entrepreneurs should know about.View sample session selections based on major or career interest
What is the difference between Business101 and Power Panels? Business 101 sessions are workshops designed to give you business skills. These workshops address very specific skills or fields, and are meant to inform students in a straight-forward format. Power Panels are panels that often have a broader topic, bigger-name speakers, and an emphasis on the exchange of business insights. These panels may place more emphasis on individual anecdotes and advice rather than on concrete business skills.
What if I have a time conflict for part of the Conference? If you have a time conflict at any point in time between 11:45am and 5pm, we discourage you from registering. Specific inquiries or requests related to a short time conflict can be sent to idk2ceo2007@gmail.com. We will try to accommodate you, so get in touch with us! How can I join the pre-professional organizations that are sponsoring the conference? 11 student groups are working together to make this Conference possible. Membership information and details about the mission of each organization is available here. All of our organizations actively encourage membership growth. Joining these organizations is a great way to continue your sharpening your business (or other!) savvy with peers who share similar interests. |
