| I-RITE/I-SPEAK
I-RITE/I-SPEAK provides graduate student researchers with practice in making their work understandable to general audiences.
Description
In today's academic and work environments, it is crucial to be able to explain what you do accessibly, succinctly, and compellingly to non-specialists. In this free workshop (funded by the new Vice Provost for Graduate Education office), participants will learn to communicate complex ideas to others in understandable, nontechnical English through generation of a written statement, an oral "elevator talk", and a one-minute presentation on their research. Completed material can be used in proposals, grant applications, presentations, and informal conversations with professional and personal contacts.
