Hello Friends...I would like to update everyone On how Alexander's is doing. He's now 11 yrs.old. On the 4th of july of 2005 Alexander was Sick, with a very high fever and very unhappy we decided to take him to Children's Hosp. here in boston. The ER doctor's checked him and after catscans they decided to performed exploratory surgery to see why his belly was so tender to the touch, 4 hrs. after surgery they informed us that he's colon had raptured and stool was leaking inside, a colostomy had to be done...due to his shunt being in the belly area that immediatly had to be externelized to prevent the infection to run up to the brain...for 4 wks and infection & deceases team put him on very heavy antibiotics, well he keeped getting infections everytime they tried to put the shunt back in to his belly, then they tried to place it in to the lungs but his lung collapse, they tried again & again but it was not working...we almost lost him on july 17th at 2:30am but pull thru...many surgeries later we finally made it home 11/01/05 he's shunt is now draining in his heart and the shunt was also moved to a diferent area of his head to see if no infections could get to it( Knock on wood ) it has worked but he's shunt was almost 11 yrs old before all this happened which was a blessing he never need it revised for that long...hopefully this one will be the same. now 11/22/06 he's doing great & so are we. his 16 yr.old Sister is working and we can wait to celebrate the holidays with our little Angel. Thank you for letting us share our life stories with you and if anyone wants to get in touch with us you are welcome to write...God Bless all of the families from this Pages and those who are not members but go thru very similar expiriences.
