Our son Emil is 4 years old, turning 5 this summer. Emil was diagnosed with lobar HPE a couple of years ago. He was born with a cleft lip/palate and does not speak, though he makes a lot of giggling and other noises and we think he understands some single words - when he is in the right mood. We try to use signing language to enforce the meaning of words for Emil. He has a g-button on his stomach, a mild form of epilepsy, hyperactivity and some sleeping problems. But above all, he is a very very sweet and charming little boy, running around the house trying to reach and examine everything he sees. Unfortunately, his balance is not so good so although he is wearing a helmet especially made for him, he falls a lot and hurts himself, sometimes bad. We spend some time chasing him to prevent him from falling right now! Emil has a little sister who is 2,5 years old and live just outside Stockholm in Sweden.
