Hi, We have a nine year old son, Jack, who was diagnosed with Semi Lobar HPE at birth, there was a lot of confusion over diagnosis, we have seen many consultants. Jack has baffled Doctors as they gave us the worst case of what to expect, however, he is our little miracle. Jack developed "normally" until it came to sitting up, walking, fine motor skills etc, with a lot of help from physio he learnt to walk when he was two weeks from 3rd birthday, his speech is normal, he attends a special needs school because he has mild learing difficulties and mild autism, he has no other underlying problems, no facial deformalities, not on medication for anything. He still wears nappies at night but we are working on that one. We treat him the same as his younger brother Sam who is six, they are great mates, he just needs help dressing and bathing, but we will know this will come in time. We are very lucky to have Jack and wouldnt change him for the world, he has a great sense of humour, but he can also be the usual stroppy nine year old.
