my name is amanda and i just had my second child on jan 18 05. i had never heard of hpe until the day i had my son. i was 35wks an going into pre-term labor. i was at the hospital alone and the nurses did an ultrasound. before i knew it i was having a c-section the next morning. i asked why? they could tell me nothing. they said that something was wrong but they had no idea. it could range from having to much amniotic fliud to having a stillborn. my son was delivered the next morning at 7:53am weighing 6lbs and 5oz at 35wks. he cried once when he was born. they transfered him to usa women and childrens hospital within the hour. i waited allday no knowing what was wrong with my son. i kept prayin he would be ok. that night my husband was leaving the hospital where ethan was and he was coming to see me, as he steped out the door a doctor stoped him and told him our son had hpe and would not live another day. they were able to keep him alive another day so that i could finally see him. we held him for about two hours an he died in my husband arms. my husband and i are age 20 and 21 and we have a 22month old son. this has been so hard on us. where do we go from here? i would like information on hpe.
