This is to update our family's story currently on your website. We've got a new home address as well. Nicole is now 15 years old. She is still a very happy, patient, loving child. She still asks me to hold her when she gets tired at night. How many 15 year olds do you know that still want their mom to hold them. She's pretty heavy now - at 95 lbs and is almost as tall as me - probably about 5 ft tall or so, so holding her can be difficult, but worth every minute. Nicole is in a regular Middle School in Douglas County, Colorado. This has been great for Nicole. She attends Science, Social Studies, P.E., Choir, and Home Economics with all the regular kids and then gets special one on one help on Math, Reading, and Writing. She's currently getting mostly A's and an occasional B and has a 3.8 grade point average (modified for her, but she still works hard). She was even accepted into the National Junior Honor Society. So, don't sell your kids too short - continue to push them to excel. Nicole will be going into High School next year so another journey begins, but I think we are up to the task. Nicole is active in her church youth group and loves it!! She can't wait to go to church every week. She loves to sing and is usually in her room singing, watching movies, or listening to music or even all three at the same time! She's funny! Always see the positive things in your child's life. I count my blessings every day that I have Nicole in my life. She could be so much worse off than she is, and she truly is a living, breathing miracle from God. I can't tell you how many lives she touches just by smiling and making others feel good. My husband, Chris, is a huge help and Nicole is the apple of his eye. She loves her daddy a lot and is not the same when he is traveling for his job. Nicole's brother, Nick, is 12 years old and is also a big help. He loves his sister a lot and frequently writes about her for essays at school. That warms my heart!
