My name is Laura and I just had a son on August 20,2003. Andrew was 4 lbs. and 17 and 3/4 in. long. He has holoprosencephaly. His eyes are close together, he has a nose but no bridge, he has a cleft lip that is cleft in the middle, and he has a slight cleft pallet. I didn't know he was like this until he was born and I didn't know anything was wrong until the next day. I had been ultrasound almost every two weeks since I was 26 weeks because they said his head was running a little small. He has breathed on his own since birth and his heart is fine. He has had seizures but they have him on medicine. He can't regulate his body heat yet. He is taking a special bottle and he is up to 1 oz. every three hours and he is starting to gain weight. Andrew is in no way stable to come home but he is doing as well as he could be. I have one question though how many of you had your child ressusatated on oxygen or just patted to start their breathing. Or have they never had to be brought back to life?
