Hi our names are Gerry & Lynn Robertson, our Son Jordon Christopher Robertson who is now 2 & 1/2 years of age was diagnosed at 4 months gestation with Hydrocephalus. We were told by our doctors that they thought that in their opinion this was an isolated incident and that everything else looked normal. After Jordon was born he was given an M.R.I scan which diagnosed - Hydrocephalus, Holoprosencephaly, falots tetralogy and renal defects. As Jordon grew he became unable to feed properly, so he was fitted with a nasal gastric feeding tube. He also began suffering from Gastric reflux which meant he would throw up after every feed, he gained little weight and was in and out of hospital with infections. He has had four major surgeries to correct some of the defects, and we have nearly lost him on more than one occassion. Despite all this he is the happiest wee boy you will ever meet, he is playful, contented and settled. He has a physiotherapist, occupational therapist, speech and language therapist and a home visiting teacher, he also attends nursery school 3 mornings per week. Where we live there are no support groups and very little information on holoprosencephaly sufferers. We would be grateful for any response from families with similar children, please reply to gez14@bun.com We do not know what the future holds for Jordon but knowing that there are others out there will be a great comfort.
