Our daughter Jade was born on the 6/3/03 at 39 weeks gestation. Jade had trouble breathing upon birth and was placed in a special care. Her breathing became more laboured after two days and she was placed on ventillation. We were told that tests were being run to discover why Jade was having so much trouble considering she was a full term baby. One thing that they noted was size of Jade's head was quite small. Six days after Jade's birth we were given the devasting news that Jade had microcephaly with Lobar Holoprosencephaly. Her chromosones are normal. We didn't know anything about this condition and like most people we went in search of any information we could find. Jade is now at home with us and is doing well. She is undergoing blood tests each two weeks to test her sodium levels and has already started physio. We are finding the hardest part of this condition is the variation in how it effects each child. When people ask us what will is likely to happen to her, we are unable to answer because we don't even know ourselves.
