Jacob is now 19 months old. He has had his palate repaired after fighting with doctors as to why they should repair it. Jacob began having inifantile spasms last August and a horrible sinus infection. Since November, he has been spasm free and does not have recurrent sinusitis. Jacob lost his interest and ability to eat well after his first birthday. We blame that on the spasms and the sinus infection. He is now mostly tube fed. He still enjoys oral stimulation but doesn't have good coordination in his mouth. Jacob is a very happy boy. He loves people and is quite the flirt. He does not talk yet, but seems interested in the mouth when spoken to. Jacob does know his name and communicates well with his eyes. He will also bat at something on his body if it hurts. Jacob is involved with OT and PT two times per week. He is still trying to crawl and sit up, but hasn't gained full coordination to do so yet.
