I was 31 weeks along when we were going in to see my doctor for a sonogram so we could know the gender of our daughter. My doctor noticed a hollow spot on her head. He wanted us to see a neonatal specialist because he was concerned it could be fluid which could be fixable after birth. We went to the specialist who diagnosed that she had albor holoprosencephaly. We were told she would not survive birth, and if she did, she would be deaf, blind, maybe a vegetable. I went to this clinic twice and both times was offered to terminate my pregnancy or I would have to do a C-section early, reguardless she would not survive. I called my doctor and told him I wanted another opinion somewhere else. He gave me the name and number of another specialist. We went to see this doctor, who diagnosed the same thing, but gave us a little hope. He said she would have a cleft lip and palate, but could not determine her expectantcy. He did not recommend a C-section but to either induce early or drain some fluid off her head. I was induced at 35 weeks. I went into the hospital at 5pm September 3rd and delivered Janessa Adriana at 1:44am September 4th. She had no complications at birth. She weighed 7.5 pounds and was 20 inches long. When I first seen her, I knew she was my little beautiful angel. She did have little seizures and only maybe drank about 1-2 ounces a day. She was not blind, deaf or a vegetable. She was a little fighter just like we knew she was going to be. I knew every moment with her would be special and to be treasured because I knew it was day to day. She passed away in my arms October 1st in her sleep at 10pm. She was only a few days away from being a month old already.
