My son Andrew was born November 3rd, 1987. He was diagnosed as having semilobar holoprosencephaly. His additional diagnoses include cerebral palsy, spastic quadriparesis and a seizure disorder by history. He was delivered full term without complications. Upon his initial examination we were informed that he had a "small head". The doctors said they would monitor the condition and that there was a possibility that the bones in his skull were fusing prematurely. On March 3rd 1988 Andrew had a HEAD CT.

Andrew is a very pleasant and social child. His physical condition restricts him to a wheelchair. He has good control of his head, very limited control of his legs, arms and hands. He communicates by smiling as a yes response. His muscle tone is rigid. This has led to two hamstring release and hip operations. His diet consists of strained food, cereals and liquids.

Andrew is a joy to be around. His smile is infectious.
