i am a 59 yr old female with two adult children - one male 29 and one female 27 and 2 grandchildren 2 boys 8 and just 7. my daughter and the 7 yr old both have hpe. both very mild with no really distinguishing physical marks although both have small heads but not by much....both were diagnosed in 1999 after my daughter became pregnant with her third child she has alerted her doctor to the possibility of a heart condition that her first son had when he was born....in the process of that monitoring was when it was discovered that this new child was not thriving and in fact would die in the womb due to severe alobar hme... which she did. that was when further testing discovered she and joshua both had hme. the biggest problem that she and he experience is behavior problems. frustration, learning disabilities and almost abnormal anger problems. is this part of hme? so far we have not read about any of these disabilities....and so far have not read about the fact that there really is a mild case of hme. my daughter and i would be happy to hear from anyone who can share their experiences with hme...she has had a difficult time coping with her son because of these problems. thanks and God bless
