My son Andrew was born on March 12,1992. It was not until he was 35 months old did we find out that Andrew suffer from semilobar holoprosencep-haly, agenesis of the Corpus Collosum, and dia-betes insipatus. He had had a bad cold which kept getting worse. In a matter of hours he went from a nasty cold to being semi-conscious. Upon arrive at the hostipal it was determine he had a sodium level in the high 190's. He was airlifted to Children Hospital in St. Louis, Mo were we were given little hope of survival. Luckily one the doctors diagnosis his condition immeditaly and Andrew was stablized after two weeks in Intense Care. It was during this time that we wer inform of his complete medical condition. My wife and I had already lost a daughter a few years early from a more serious form of this condition. At that time we were told it would be one in million if it happen again. Andrew is doing very well now. He is in 3rd grade. He receives physical therapy for both fine and gross motor skills and a full time classroom aide to help him with his schoolwork he has made remarkable progress in recent years. P It took us a awhile to finally kept his sodium incheck, but with his DDvap and careful attention to his fluid intake we can kept his sodium at normal levels for him. P You can email me at gwatt1@worldnet.att.net if you have any questions or comments.
