Our son John Weeks was born June 12, 1978. His diagnosis is lobar holoprosencephaly & lissencephaly with the remainder of his brain full of holes. The cause of this deformity was a drug used for morning sickness called Bendectin taken from the third week. John's condition includes spastic quadriplegia, deaf on the right side, incontinent bowel & bladder, developmentally delayed and had surgery on his right eye to staighten the alignment. John is verbal and speaks in complete sentences with good grammar and comprehension.He exhibits sporadic behavioral episodes. He operates both manual & electic wheelchairs. He currently attends a day program where he concentates on learning to read, community activities such as food preparation, selling baking prepared in the program, swimming and computer related activities. His health is good and his life expectancy is normal. He also has a great interest in music, videos and fireworks.
