Lawrence was born on 9/6/99 as one of triplets. The triplets were conceived through IVF. The babies were born after 32 weeks. The other two babies are now healthy and normal. We found out about Lawrence's condition through ultrasound at approximately 17 weeks. Prior to birth, we consulted with several doctors and were told the same thing: not to expect him to survive more than a few days to weeks. Well after 4.5 months he is still with us. Lawrence has a flat nose bridge, cleft lip, and cleft pallet. He was born at just under two pounds but is now approaching seven pounds. We feed him every 3 hours through gavage. He has seizure activity. He also can become quite agitated and has trouble regulating a constant temperature. Currently, we are giving him phenobarbital once a today and chloral hydrate to keep him calm and to sleep. We are giving him a low dose and sometimes the medications do not work too well.
