We went in for a routine ultrasound @ 18 wks. How we were so relieved when we saw our little baby so active & literally bouncing off the walls. How more wrong could we've been. I recieved a phone call from my O/B.G.Y.N. the following day. He had spotted something on the brain & we needed to make arrangements to go to the University for a level 2 ultrasound. Off we went for the 3hr.long ultrasound. Those Dr.'s scanned every inch of our little boy. So when the neonatologists walked in the room holding a box of kleenex I knew right there it wasn't going to be good news. Our hopes & dreams for our babies future were pulled out right underneath us as quickly as you can say Holoprosencephaly, & that is what our baby had. Why oh why & how could this have happened to us & especially to our baby- I had done everything right. We quickly realized it is not our fault. He's our baby, our angel no matter which way you look @ it & we will go through with the pregnancy & leave it in God's hands. That was our response when we were told we needed to make some decisions. Tristan would most likely not make it full term & if he did for not long after. He didn't make it full term, but he did make it to 25 wks. & he fought the whole way. He was such an active baby. So fun to watch & feel him playing. He was stillborn November 30,1999 @ 1lb. 3/4 oz. with lots of blond hair. We held, kissed, took pictures of & baptised our son & then seen him off to Heaven. God Bless you Tristan! We all love you & miss you deeply.
