WE HAD A BABY GIRL IN APRIL 1998 WHO WAS BORN WITH ALOBAR HOLOPROSENCEPHALY, MICROCHEPHALY AS WELL AS A CLEFT LIP AND PALATE. SHE WAS BORN EARLY AT 31 WEEKS AS SHE HAD GONE INTO FOETAL DISTRESS. SHE ONLY SURVIVED FOR 5 HOURS. WE HAD ONLY FOUND OUT WHEN I WAS 28 WEEKS PREGNANT THAT THERE WERE CERTAIN ABNORMALITIES AND WE WERE SHOCKED TO SAY THE LEAST. Since writing my family page, in October 1999, we have gone on to have a healthy son. (We have now have 2 boys)  Although my pregnancy was a scary one, I was pretty confident that we would not have to go through what we did with our daugther.  I also went for extensive scans, concentrating on the brain, and also the face.  Needless to say we were blessed with a healthy son.  I have also contacted two other families on this webpage and are now in regular contact with them, both are pregnant again and their babies are due early in the New Year.
 
I would like to thank the Carter Centre for all their information that they have made available and for providing this family webpage - it has really helped us to accept what has happened to us and realise that we are not alone.
