Huntington's Disease Research at Stanford

At Stanford University, considered one of the top biomedical research centers in the world, several researchers have made valuable additions to the growing body of knowledge regarding Huntington's Disease (HD). Each of the researchers, as well as a short summary of their work, is listed below. Click on the researchers’ names for a more complete description of how their work relates to HD.

• Ron Kopito, PhD: Dr. Kopito's research group has examined the relationship between huntingtin protein aggregates and the ubiquitin-proteasome system.
• Richard Myers, PhD: Dr. Myers’ research group has focused on the genetics of HD. Their goal is to understand the normal biological function of the huntingtin protein and the pathological processes of HD.
• Lawrence Steinman, MD, PhD: Dr. Steinman’s lab has recently published groundbreaking research on cystamine, a potential treatment for HD.
