Season 2007-08

February 2nd, 2008, Stanford 5, California 3
Back at home, the Cardinal looked to avenge a frustrating Friday night
loss. Though Cal struck twice, Stanford fought back to make it 4-2.
After ringing yet another off the post at the end of the second,
Stanford saw Cal walk it down the ice and pull within one at the end
of the second. But, with the Stanford Band having just arrived from a
home basketball game and the energy in the crowd picking up, Stanford
would not disappoint. For the first time all season, the Card did not
allow a single goal in the third, playing tough defense and icing the
cake with an Andy Meyerson empty-netter to cap off a 5-3 win and a
season full of improvements. Thanks to the Band and the fans who came
out--we look forward to next October!

February 1st, 2008, California 9, Stanford 5
A Stanford-hating Berkeley home crowd got treated to a quick start
from the Golden Bears, who lit the lamp within the first minute of
play, and grabbed a 2-0 lead several minutes later. But the Cardinal
fought back, pulling within one at the end of the first and tying it
in the second. Three Cal goals got the crowd back into it, but once
again, the Card struck twice--only minutes apart--to pull within one,
and later hit a crossbar that could be heard across the Bay. The Bears
proved to be too much though, and they came away with a solid 9-5 win.
Trash-talking and physicality at the end of the game promised for an
interesting saturday matchup at Stanford.

January 11th & 12th, 2008
In a true roller coaster of a game on Friday night, UCLA struck first and early, but Stanford answered with 2 goals in the first period and added a third in the second.  The Bruins responded with 4 straight of their own, three of which came in a span of minutes in the second.  But the Cardinal Bounced back and dominated the third period, finishing with 4 unanswered scores and a 7-5 win.

Saturday night saw a rejuvenated and hungry Bruin team score the first three before Stanford lit the lamp to make it 3-1 in the second.  However, that would prove to be all the Card could muster.  UCLA finished a strong team effort with a 6-1 win and a weekend series split with Stanford.

Of note: Peter Radu (#12) was on the ice for two of Stanford's goals, and finished the weekend with an impressive plus-1 rating.
