“Probing Quantum Gravity Using Matter”

Abstract: One of the biggest unsolved problems in physics is the unification of quantum mechanics and general relativity. Unification is expected to occur close to the Planck scale where quantum space time fluctuations are expected. Various attempts have been made to investigate this scale using matter wave interferometers where a loss of coherence due to space time fluctuations is expected. We present a new approach to the gravitational decoherence near the Planck scale, made possible by the recently discovered conformal structure of canonical gravity. I will present a model of space time fluctuations and there investigation using matter waves and possible connection to dark energy.
